Uber had announced that they are testing their self-driving car in Pittsburgh before three months, and now Uber finally declared the launching of semi-autonomous cars on the streets as early as this month. Report from Bloomberg says that the test fleet will consists of specially modified Volvo XC90 SUVs, with each car supervised by one engineer in the driver’s seat who can take the wheel as/when needed as well as co-pilot to take down the observations. There will also be a “liquid-cooled” computer sitting in the trunk recording trip and map data. Volvo cars have delivered a handful of vehicles out of 100 due by the end of the year. Passengers will get their ride free who take the experimental self-driving cars.
