What is new with iOS 10?

Good news for iOS lovers! iOS 10 has been released on 13th September.Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced iOS 10 as the “biggest release ever” for iOS users. The operating system has the major updates for a wide variety of apps, services and features, including Photos, Maps, Apple Music, Apple Pay, Messages, Siri, Control Centre and more. This might be the best update for Mobile apps development company USA and across the world to develop best apps.

Who is iOS 10 for?
iOS 10 is for iPhone 5 or later, iPad 4th generation or later, iPad mini 2 or later, iPad Pro range and the 6th generation iPad touch or later. Users are automatically notified forthe upgrade. If not notified, you can do it manually by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

iOS 10 size is in between 600 MB to 1.2 GB, it may differ depending on your device.

Things you can do with iOS 10 that you couldn’t before:

Following are some of the latest features of iOS 10 -

1) Remove some of the stock apps

iOS 10 allows you to uninstall some of the stock apps like Stocks. For this, just tap and hold on the app icon to see the uninstall option. It lets you uninstall apps like Contacts, Podcasts and Maps. If you want it back again, you can reinstall these apps from iTunes.

2) Pick up your iPhone to see notifications

If you don’t want to push buttons to check the notifications, iOS 10 provides new “raise to wake” feature. Just pick up your phone and the lock screen will appear. This feature is only available on the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s plus, iPhone SE, and the new models. If you don’t want to use this feature, you can disable it at Display & Brightness in the settings.

3) Be more expressive with emoji

To express your feelings more deeply, apple have added 100+ emojis in iOS 10.There is a lot of new iconsof male and female versions as well as they have added rainbow flag, single-parent family and many more emojis.

4) Launch the camera faster than ever before

If you are using “raise to wake” feature to see the lock screen or pressed sleep/wake button, a single left swipe gets you straight into the camera. It is little easier than iOS 9 as there you had to swipe on the camera icon to use it. But if you are using camera this way, then there is no access to the photo library.  And also there is no way to turn off this feature.

5) Use Siri with third-party apps

Apple made it available to the developers to add Siri in iOS 10. Of course it will take time to add Siri integration, but some apps like LinkedIn, Slack and Lyft already have Siri function.

6) Turn read receipts on or off for each conversation

This is also a very important feature for your privacy, as it allows you to turn on or off the read receipts for each conversation. For this, tap “i” icon at the top of any conversation and you will find “Send Read Receipts” switch with the toggle on or off. This feature only works with iMessage threads; it is not available for standard SMS.

There is no reason not to update

iOS 10 is all about improving Apple’s iDevices. The features are more concentrated on giving you the ways to access stuff more quickly. Also it includes lot of updates, so there is no reason not to update the devices which can run it. It doesn’t hurt performance of your device, doesn’t murder battery. Although it takes more storage space, but that’s been a fact of every iOS update for years now.So it is worth in all ways to update your Apple devices with iOS 10.

Best ways to promote your mobile app

Working in a mobile apps development companies USA is the best opportunity to understand the app development process.Though the app you developed is one of the best among the similar apps in the app store, making your app a winning product emerging from the tough competition is really a cumbersome. To make it possible, you should have a workable app marketing strategy.

There are a number of Mobile apps development companies NYC, Atlanta and all over USA, but has every company got success for all the apps they developed? The answer is no. Lack of effective marketing may have been one of the main reasons. This is where app owners should deeply think about marketing. So I would like to suggest some of the ways that will help to do perfect marketing -

1.      Get in touch

Before starting the actual design and development for your app, you should start marketing. Now a days marketing starts along with the creation of idea. So your first step is to connect with your customers and talk to them about an idea, as greater part of app success depends on the users. You have to make sure that whatever customers want exactly that you will provide in your app.

2.      Reach out to Influencers

Influencers mean individuals who have power to influence the buying and engagement decisions of a certain group of people. Having an authentic, honest, and mutually beneficial relationship with influencers will help you promote your app well. With influencers you can promote your company in a great way so that the viewers will not feel that you are “faking”. Genuine sponsorship will build a stronger following for your company.

3.      Leverage your mobile website

If you have a mobile-friendly website, then it is a great way to promote your app. When any customer or any person visits your website, they should get to know that you have an app. Instead of just giving your app name and link, if you can add popup regarding the important features of your app when anyone visits the website, this will be a great way to increase the downloads of that app. Pop-up is the first thing that visitors will see on the website, so your customers will get an option to either download your app through filling the pop-up form or continue with the main site.

4.      Feature the app in the official blog

You can write a separate blog post to promote your app, where you can add the idea behind developing that app, the story of development, the features available in app, who can use an app and how it will be beneficial for them. Include the screenshots, links and videos of your app to make post more informative as well as attractive.

5.      App Store Optimization

ASO is must in marketing an app. Almost half of smartphone users are finding an app through directly searching in app store.
Among thousands of apps available in the app store, your app should be in top positions to get more visitors and downloads. Also you should create attractive and more appealing screenshots to increase the possibilities of being downloaded.

6.      SEO really matters here

Yes along with ASO, SEO also matters here. When people search about any particular app like messaging app or music app, or type of app you developed, then your app link will come in the first five entries on the search engine page e.g. Google, Yahoo, Bing. So the visitor can visit the link directly and you will get more downloads. For this, you should have a good SEO strategy.

Uber’s autonomous vehicles are on the streets of Pittsburgh

Uber had announced that they are testing their self-driving car in Pittsburgh before three months, and now Uber finally declared the launching of semi-autonomous cars on the streets as early as this month. Uber's Self-driving car is already a buzzing word among mobile app development USA and other technological firms.

Uber will allow customers in Pittsburgh to summon self-driving cars from their phones. Google has been testing its fleet for several years, and Tesla Motors Autopilot software has been slowly increasing its functionality, essentially a souped-up cruise control that drives the car on the highway. Also recently Ford announced plans for an autonomous ride-sharing service.

Report from Bloomberg says that the test fleet will consists of specially modified Volvo XC90 SUVs, with each car supervised by one engineer in the driver’s seat who can take the wheel as/when needed as well as co-pilot to take down the observations. There will also be a “liquid-cooled” computer sitting in the trunk recording trip and map data. Volvo cars have delivered a handful of vehicles out of 100 due by the end of the year. Passengers will get their ride free who take the experimental self-driving cars.

The Volvo deal is not exclusive. As it requires more engineers, Uber plans to partner with other automakers. This is the reason Uber acquired Otto. Otto is a 91 employee driverless truck start-up that was founded earlier this year. They are having engineers from a number of high profile tech companies attempting to bring driverless cars on the streets. This includes Google, Apple, and Tesla. Uber kept secret the terms of arrangement, but a person familiar with the deal reveals that if the targets are met, it would be worth 1 percent of Uber’s most recent valuation. That would be about $680 million.

The company was founded by former Googlers Anthony Levandowski, Lior Ron, Don Burnette, and Claire Delaunay. Levandowski led Google’s self-driving car efforts, Ron was an executive on Google Maps and Motorola, while others have worked with Apple, Tesla and other notable automotive firms. Now Levandowski is ready to lead Uber’s driverless car efforts. Also two new R&D centres will open up to speed the technology’s development. Otto’s LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor technology detects infrared emissions to monitor speed, which is geared to be adapted for use in Uber’s autonomous vehicles.

Otto’s founders were key members of Google’s operation, who decamped in January. Levandowski told Bloomberg in giving the reason why he left Google – “We were really excited about building something that could be launched early”. It shows the frustration with the slow speed of development from Google’s self driving project.Uber, it seems more excited to move forward with self-driving at a faster-pace.
